Lackawanna Wunderful…

Lackawanna State Park, or LSP as it is known on the posts, is one of my favorite places to commune with nature. I’ve always been attracted to the trail system there which keeps on getting better and better due in part to Joe Tierney and his  great trail crew.

The weather was idyllic for a early November morning with temp in the high 40’s as we started out. I joined in with about 12 riders for a tour of the north and eastern loops of the park which took us 3 hrs, due to a number of regroups and mechanicals. All in all a great day…

I was the lone rider of our group with 29″ wheels, but there was constant talk during the course of our ride about 29″, 650B, and of the failed 700D from the early 90’s. MTB 26″ is 559 mm rim diameter, 650B/584mm=27.5″, 700D/587 mm, & 700C (road and 29″) 622 mm.

Also of note is that some of our local riders have made just made it big! Turn to pg. 30 in the December issue of Mountain Bike Action where you will find Mt.Top locals Al& Joan Morena, Frank Homschek, Jeff Bruell with daughter Audrey at the Kingdom Trail system in Vt. Audrey’s pic is in a second time as she directs the others to ‘Moose Alley’.
